A bulk bag conditioner is a machine that serves as an easy and efficient way to break materials. They are primarily used in times when the bulk bag discharger is incapable or not effective. And this happens when materials solidify to a particular point.

When materials solidify, the bulk bag conditioner helps to loosen these solid bulk materials so that bulk bag dischargers can discharge the materials into bags. The bulk bag conditioner applies hydraulic force to break materials that are too large or solidified and cannot be removed from the bulk bag.

A bulk bag conditioner can be a self-standing machine or can be attached to a bulk bag discharger. It is preferable to integrate the bulk bag conditioner with the bulk bag discharger because it speeds up loading, offloading, conditioning, and discharging. The two machines being combined promote efficient work and material flow for even the most solidified materials. It increases productivity and fosters workers’ safety.

Generally, the bulk bag conditioner always consists of two hydraulically actuated conditioning arms that are placed on two opposite sides in a metal frame structure. Usually, the bag is placed between the two opposing conditioning arms using a forklift or motorized conveyor. The arms begin to pressure the bag in a squeezing manner giving it two to three squeezes, each on opposite sides until the solidified material is broken up and allows free flow during discharge.

The bulk bag has a few components that help it fulfil its purpose, and most times, the feature is integrated with a new bulk bag discharger for efficiency.

The massage paddle consists of two contoured massage paddles placed on the top and bottom of the bulk bag that uses a pneumatic cylindrical action to press against the material to break the material and allow for free discharge. It is used when the material has hardened and needs loosening.

Then, there are the deblocking rams. These are primarily used on bulk bags that contain material that has solidified due to storage or shipping. Using hydraulic cylinders, the rams are driven through the bulk bag in a controlled manner that reduces the material to a perfect size that anyone can dispense through the bag discharge spout.

There is also the Spout Lump Adblocker. It controls two opposing curved plates using pneumatic cylinders to remove trapped dry bulk material that may wedge at the discharge sprout. This size bag conditioner component helps to deblock the discharge sprout so that removed materials and the remaining materials in the bag can freely continue the downstream process.

A bulk bag conditioner may also include a turntable. It moves the bulk bag for it to receive conditioning on all sides. The bulk bag conditioner can be in two forms:

It could use the fixed mast form. In this form, a forklift or hoist must move the bulk bag in between the conditioning arm while the conditioning is going on. It is ideal for materials that require little training. Or it could use the movable mast. In this form, the conditioning arms move up and down, which allows the bulk bag to be conditioned in all locations. Therefore, there is no need for a forklift or a hoist, and it is ideal for materials that need rigorous conditioning.
